چکیده

There is world-wide concern that environmental quality is becoming increasingly degraded by the accumulation of multiple human activities. This has become a particularly thorny scientific, legal, and political issue, Concerns of human activities such as pollutant discharges at point sources can first be identified and then regulated directly. However, when there are many and widely dispersed point discharges, such as automobile emissions, even when the level of individual emissions is reduced, the total emission from many automobiles can produce a "cumulative effect" that degrades air quality below acceptable levels.

Incorporating Landslide Probability into Operations Planning

Current landslide hazard analysis does a poor job of informing the planning process for forest operations in that landslide models provide maps of landslide hazard instead of quantitative measure of landslide impact. Other aspects of forest management planning (such as road surface erosion) provide quantifiable estimates of impacts such as tons of sediment delivered to the stream. This paper ou...

Introduction to Special Issue on Hydrologic and Geomorphic Effects of Forest Roads

Roads have been a part of human landscapes for more than 40 centuries. During the 20th century, technological advances have increased our ability to construct new roads at unprecedented rates and into steeper terrain. In the last half of that century, an extensive network of roads has been constructed in forests and other wildlands to facilitate use and management of natural resources. They are...

Estimated height and peak runoff rate in a stream erosion in Kojoor region Nowshahr – North Alborz

Flooding is a natural hazard events and Survey data from the annual losses due to flood in Iran and the world show the extent of the flood damage caused on natural and human resources. To estimate height of the runoff and discharge maximum in basins and stream erosion, there are various experimental methods and mathematical models that one of these models, SCS model is. Thus, the aim of this st...

Predicting landslides in clearcut patches

Accelerated erosion in the form of landslides can be an undesirable consequence of clearcut logging on steep slopes. Forest managers need a method of predicting the risk of such erosion. Data collected after logging in a granitic area of northwestern California were used to develop a predictive equation. A linear discriminant function was developed that correctly classified almost 90% of the da...

منشأیابی منابع رسوب: ارتباط بین فعالیت‌‌های آنزیمی خاک و رسوب

Sediment sources fingerprinting is needed as an autonomous tool for erosion prediction, validation of soil erosion models, monitoring of sediment budget and consequently for selecting soil conservation practices and sediment control methods at the catchment scale. Apportioning of eroded-soil into multiple sources using natural tracers is an integrated approach in soil erosion and sediment studi...
